Good Faith Estimate

You are entitled to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” that outlines the anticipated expenses for your medical services. Current legislation requires healthcare practitioners to provide individuals who are uninsured, or those who choose not to use their insurance, with an estimated bill for planned medical treatments and items.

  • For any non-urgent medical items or services, you have the right to a Good Faith Estimate covering the full projected cost. This estimate will encompass associated expenses such as laboratory tests, medications, medical equipment, and hospital charges.
  • Ensure your healthcare provider supplies you with a written Good Faith Estimate at least one business day before your scheduled medical service or item. You also have the option to request this estimate from your healthcare provider, or any other provider you select, prior to booking an item or service.
  • If you receive a bill that is $400 or more above your Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the charges.
  • It is important to keep a copy or a photograph of your Good Faith Estimate for your records.
